22 August to 12 October, National Museum of Australia

If you’re interested in Indigenous art, Utopia — The genius of Emily Kame Kngwarreye is a must-see. The exhibition tells the story of Emily Kame Kngwarreye (c1910–96), an Aboriginal artist and senior Anmatyerre custodian who lived and worked 250 kilometres north of Alice Springs, in relative isolation from the art world that sought her work. The exhibition has recently been on display in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan, and includes 120 works from 65 national and overseas collections valued at more than $30 million. Book tickets online.
